Carrying on the outdoor theme we have the second
of our regular features on the mountain biking phenomenon.
With a nod to the season we introduce one of our new celebrity columnists in chef, Chris Keenan who hands you Christmas on a plate, and for good measure we enclose a full seven pages of Christmas gift ideas. Our second celebrity columnist is one of the UK's foremost singer/songwriters, Richard James (lately of Gorky's Zygotic Mynci) who brings us his unique take on the music scene in Wales. Still on music we have details of the collaboration of well known local singer/songwriter, Mal Pope with one of the stars of possibly showbiz's most famous family, Merrill Osmond.
In sport we feature Kristian O'Leary's testimonial together with a look at the Ospreys progress so far this season. And our regular columnist, Mike Ruddock shares his views on the recent Rugby World Cup with us.
In this issue you can win a copy of David Farmer's latest book, "Swansea - Look Back with Pride". This marks Swansea Life's first venture into the book publishing world, and to mark the occasion we offer 12 lucky readers the chance to win a copy. And this brings me on to one of our most popular features; our competitions. These have been growing in number for some time now, and this time we have a bumper crop for you. There are bikes to be won for Christmas, memberships of Glamorgan Health and Racquet Club, bottles of champagne provided by ND John and a wine hamper from Mumbles Fine Wines as well as bottles of Christmas spirits from the Penderyn Whisky Company. There is the Specsavers competition and don't forget our "Face in the Crowd" competition for both Swans and Osprey fans. There is even the chance to win bottles of Listerine's latest product.
Finally, yet another reminder to writers of our £1,000 cash prize that awaits the winner of the community prize section of the Dylan Thomas Prize, and a plug for our very own Swansea Life Film Festival that is growing in stature by the day. As this is our last issue before Christmas (was that a sigh of relief I heard from a Features Editor) I would like to wish all our readers, advertisers and contributors:
A very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year!
